Below is a breakdown of what area of the Untied States we will be passing through. Things have gone slower than planned thus far and as of this update, we have driven across one...whole...state...oh boy. As we enter Missouri we discovered that after St. Lous, their is really not much else for us to see until the city of Springfield. Any suggestions on passing the time here would be helpful.
Tuesday, April 6th
@10:30am: Departure from Wheaton, Dave behind the wheel. Dave eats an Energy Bar.
@2:07pm: Crossed the DesPlaines River which appeared to have a lot of water in it. Whe we spoke to a local we were relieved to hear that it is how it is supposed to be!
@2:27pm: Dave fights to save feul and begins "drafting" a large trailer to ease our punishment from the wind gusts. *Listen to Dave explain the science behind "drafting".
@2:40pm: Strap comes loose from Car-Top-Carrier comes loose, threatening a hull breach. Fortunately, Mike, resisting panic exits the car and tightens it back up before any real damage could occur.
@3:00-3:30pm: Half hour wasted trying to find a place to up-load site. Police called soon after Mike black-lists hotel employee for denying us phone access. We promptly leave. We meet more dissapointment in the office of a car dealer who thiks we're trying to sell him a web site. Black list car dealer.
@5:45pm: Ignore state capitol and keep driving.
@7:30pm: Get locked out of St. Louis Arch. Trip wasted, decide to goto New Mexico.
@8:30pm: Left St. Louis looking for a dorm full of girls with a computer.
@8:35pm: Got lost, scared, kept driving.
@9:30pm: Stop for food to thwart off canabalistic urges. Dave eats another Energy Bar.
@10:30pm: Sucessful site update in Rolla, Mo. Kentucky Fried Chicken. Disgruntled employees warmly offered their phone to us as they performed their closign duties. Which we must say were carried out with as much professionalism as we have ever witnessed...in a KFC. C.J. eats at McDonlds next door after upload is completed. Good nuggets.
Wednesday, April 7th
@1:00am (Chicago time, gain hour in time zone change): Wednesday greets us at a gas station, getting gas. Dave, still driving, eats third and final Energy Bar.
@12:01am: Dave O.D.'s and breaks into songs by Elton John, sweating profusely from the head, face, breast, chest and neck area.
@12:02am: Dave recovers.
@12:35am: Cross Missourri/Oaklohoma border. Miss opportunity to photograph state welcome sign due to lost brain.
@1:15am: Forced to pay a $3.00 toll!
@2:02am: Pass 700 mile mark! Dave and C.J. rejoice! Mike drools on himself.
@2:55am: Another $3.00 toll! We muct resist! I'm mad as hell and i'm not gonna take this anymore!
@3:30am: Dave really flips...this time we got pictures.
@4:17am: Mike releases a particularly bad oder. (It's late and I have little left to offer.)
@4:30am: Mike screams yee-haw so loudly during a country wester song, that C.J. almost lost what was left of his bladder.
@4:40am: In a last ditch effort to keep us all alive, Mike pulls into a Texas State park where we promptly passed out for the next 5 hours. Mike and Dave slept confortably in the gravel parking lot, warm in their sleeping bags, as C.J.'s sleep came in breif, spuratic bursts as his body attrophied in the front seat of the cramped car.
@10:15am: We hit the road again, all refreshed after our rest. Well Mike and C.J. at least who had to put up with whiny Dave who moaned and complained at our every move. Mike beat him over the head with a sock full of quarters until he went "to sleep" again.
@10:30am: Stopped to get fireworks.
@10:30am: Hey everybody! If you're reading this then our latest upload was a success and the trip continues. I figured we could use this time to thank everyone that has e-mailed us with suggestions or just good wishes. It's established that updates will not be as continuous as we had hoped, especially on the road. But we figure that you'll just have more content to wade through when we do get it sent. It's a lot harder to convince people to give up their phone line than we originally thought. We hope that once we settle in Roswell we will have a little easier of a time. In the meantime, keep the e-mail rolling though and we will try and get back to everyone in time. At the time I am writing this we are about 5 hours away and making good time.
@5:00pm: We have arrived in New Mexico! Unfortunately we have not been able to find a suitable upload area so we will have to wait until we get to Roswell. It's unfortunate, but that's life. Our plan tonight, if we ever get there, is to get buddy buddy with a local bartender in hopes of getting his phone line.
@8:14pm: After severely slacking on navigation after the Texas/New Mexico border, we wound up about 100 miles out of our way. We really didn't care too much, but it dramatically lengthened our drive. We estimate we will arrive in Roswell around 10:45pm central, 8:45pm mountain time. We will try and upload tonight, but realistically this will get to you on Thursday.
We haven't forgot the e-mail's you are sending but we have only been able to check our mail once. We haven't forgot the requests mom & dad, Judy, Dustin, and everyone else I am forgetting but we'll try.
@11:45pm: *This update was done very quickly and we had very little time to check for the obvious spelling and grammar errors you will find. Please ignore them as best you can. They will be fixed, just not tonight. :)
Last update before the 8th. We arrived in Roswell at around 9:00pm Western time and drove up and down the main street several times gawking at the amount of alien biz this town runs. So cool! We had no place to go, no idea what to do, so we figured the best place to start was at a local bar! We bellied up to the bar to meet the locals who might lend us further insight as to where to go. We met a cool guy named Jim, who gave us the low down and the name of a cheap hotel to crash at. Tired and ready to hit the town we retire for the night. Stay tuned!
Thursday April 8th
@5:00pm: Lucky afternoon upload. Have fun, we sure did. Still haven't forgot your requests!
Saturday, April 10th
@12:30pm: Well, it was inevitable from the start. We have to leave Roswell. I know, I know, we cried too. We are leaving the camp site and will stop back at American Copy to upload one more time before we hit the road. Like on the way down here, we may not be able to upload a whole lot, but we will try. Also, we will be working on the "request page" for those of you who sent them! Also, after four days of not knowing, we fixed the scrolling problem for the left frame. Anyone with a browser less than 800x600 has probably been frustrated thus far at not being able to see the rest of the days. I think we fixed it. Let us know. Okay, back on the road.
Sunday, April 11th
@8:22AM: Ninja's falling from the ceiling? Dogs eating cats in every direction? Will our heroes be able to overcome these and many other dangers as they continue on there journey back home? Da na na na na na na na. Da na na na na na na na Roz Clan, Roz Clan, Roz Clan... Tune in shortly as we head to our next download sight. KFC in Rolla! CJ is convinced that this is our best bet. However I believe it more feasible to solicit a bum for his cel phone. We'll see, won't we. PS - CJ is seeing quadruple now. What does that mean? I still like guns! SOS - We are running out of food. Dave sacrificed his arm for us to eat lunch. Human flesh isn't so bad once you get used to it. Plus Dave is a vegetarian so it tastes kind of like spinach and light oil.
@12:53AM: We are at a Mobil station after a scare with the car. It has brought us 3350 miles this far and we forgot to add transmission fluid. We thought something more drastic had gone wrong, but luckily it was only minor. See you all in a couple of hours... only 230 miles left. Later skater...
@3:00am: ...tired. Sooooo far away.....
@5:10am: Completely disenchanted with the idea of tryig to log this drive I officaly retire the progress page with the exception of the map, which is half crossed as of now. Besides, even we need our privacy...
